This stool is a pushback against the hidden complexity of modern seating. Instead of using gas cylinders, hydraulics, or synthetic hardware, it relies on elementary geometry and physical logic. The goal was to reach a point of functional honesty where every part of the object is necessary, and every material is sustainable. The height adjustment is driven by an internal helical interlock, a positive mechanical system carved directly into the outer shell of the stool. Hidden inside the monolithic cork cylinder, this staircase profile allows the seat to sit at different levels without the need for screws or bolts. Internal wooden dowels act as alignment keys, leveraging the natural elasticity of the cork to create a secure, compressed friction fit. This allows for a stable, 100% biodegradable assembly that remains entirely glueless. The design focuses on the tactile nature of cork and the simple satisfaction of a manual mechanism. By moving the seat, the user reveals the internal logic of the object. It is a quiet, versatile piece designed to work in a home or a studio, functioning as a natural continuation of a well-designed space. Every line and junction is there for a reason, resulting in a balanced stool that is built to last and, eventually, to return to the earth.
